New Energy Efficient & Emission-Compliant HVAC System
Microsemi Corporation, based in Orange County, CA, is a major semiconductor manufacturer employing more than 3,000 people and with round-the-clock operations.
When their outdated air conditioning system needed replacing they turned to DB Sales for their expertise in developing solutions for energy efficient and emission-compliant HVAC systems. The client also required a robust system that could handle the process swings of the daily operations at Microsemi.
DB Sales recommended a Dunham-Bush air cooled screw chiller model for the project. This model is a quiet operating chiller system that has two compressors and two independent refrigerant circuits for built-in reliability. Additionally, it has a low ambient kit for trouble-free winter season operation, and a user-friendly and highly advanced microprocessor.
DB Sales managed the project from end to end, including working closely with a state of California energy consultant to obtain approvals for a $30,000 rebate to Microsemi for increasing efficiency over the existing unit. The installation exceeded the state’s energy efficiency guidelines.
An additional challenge was the installation, which needed to take place over a single weekend to ensure minimal down time for the manufacturing operations. DB Sales worked with a local mechanical contractor on the installation; additionally a Dunham-Bush service engineer was onsite to commission the chiller.
The new system is functioning very effectively and the client is extremely satisfied with the end result, and the smooth installation process.
